WOOHOO! Today was my first day off after 13 days straight through. And what better way to spend it than at our favorite place in Taiwan? Our most awesome Chinese teacher/homegirl offered to drive down with us and add her supersonic laughter to the good things about today. In addition to the great visual stimulation, both Mike and I had a chance to converse in Chinese with someone who knows exactly how much we understand, and Caroline earned mjaor brownie points by figuring out several fundamentals just by listening to our chattering.
For Mike and I, this was our third trip down to Sun Moon Lake. The weather was completely different from our previous trips. It was hot, of course, and also quite hazy. The water was a crazy shade of swimming pool green that none of us could figure out the cause of. Families were out in full force, and we saw some monks in action maintaining the bell at the top of Tsen pagoda. All in all, we felt like we'd been dropped into another world, in spite of the fact that it's a familiar place to three of us. After all that walking around, we tucked in to dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant here in Taichung.
